One machine, in 1996
Roshani began sewing in 1996 with one machine and a natural eye for women’s garments. She studied how well-made clothing was constructed, often taking pieces apart and rebuilding them to understand the details behind fit, shape, and finish.
Over time, her work grew from simple sewing into a skilled workroom known for smocking, embroidery, crochet trims, neat stitching, and reliable production. What began with one machine became a team built through patience, practice, and care.
In 2001, the business was registered as Festal Enterprices. Over the years, the workroom produced garments for selected Sri Lankan fashion retailers. That experience helped shape our standards in pattern making, stitching, finishing, and fit.
A standard shaped by experience
Working closely with established fashion retailers helped set a high standard for the workroom. Feedback on fit, finish, consistency, and presentation became part of the way each garment was made.
Those years of experience continue to guide the brand today. Every piece is approached with the same attention to proportion, comfort, stitching, and finishing that allowed the workroom to serve Sri Lanka’s retail market for many years.
Why we now sell under our own name
For many years, the workroom made garments that carried other labels. The skill, fabric knowledge, patterns, and finishing were ours, but the name on the garment belonged to someone else.
Sera Nee brings that experience forward under a label of our own.
Our aim is simple: to offer women elegant clothing made with care, without losing the honesty of good workmanship. Each piece is created for women who value comfort, graceful design, and clothing that feels considered rather than mass-produced.
We continue to support selected production work for other brands, but our own collection now allows customers to experience the workroom’s craft directly.
What comes next
Sera Nee currently sells online across Sri Lanka, with international orders arranged personally through email or WhatsApp.As the collection grows, the next step is to create a physical retail space where customers can experience the fabrics, fit, and finishing in person. Until then, every order is handled with the same care that has shaped the workroom from the beginning.
